Obituary of Phyllis M. Jenner
JENNER, Phyllis M. (nee Thompson) 1923-2016 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Phyllis, March 19, 2016. At 92, she was still with us, still funny, still thinking of others. She alone introduced new words like "bumpity", "dingle dangles" and "a bit blowy" to the lexicon. As you can see from the photo above, she was a hockey player in Nelson, B.C. circa 1943, while the boys, including her brothers Fred, Ray and Walter, were busy with the war. Moving East on a grand adventure with great friends; Aunt Char and Auntie Dukie, she married her beloved late husband, Douglas K. Jenner (1999) in Windsor, and started a family and life here. She was an employee of Roseland Golf Club; but her life was family. At 68, which was "not too late", she learned to drive to take Doug to appointments as he fell ill. Courage and selflessness defined her. Her children Gerald (wife Judy), Todd (wife Martha), Constance (husband Wally) and Ross (wife Frances) will be forever grateful for the support and guidance "Doug "n" Phyl" provided them. It will echo down through the generations: eight grandchildren; Derek, Michael, Stephen and Kathleen, Dan and Jessica, Tam and Rebecca; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews aplenty - who all adored her. Her philosophy was, "what matters more, a happy child or a polished floor?" Carolina blue skies in the winter with her daughter and every glowing sunset was valued by her. Phyl loved having everyone for glass of wine (or two) on the deck at the cottage on Lake Erie with Auntie Carol. Her stay at Huron Lodge was blessed by the very special staff of the Poplar floor; for which we also give thanks. We would have loved for her to stay, but God outvoted us. Mom used to sing "I"m an old cowhand, from the Rio Grande" and I"d love to ride"with you by my side"" Count on us mom, to be by your side. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of Phyllis" life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE CREMATION CENTRE (519-254-2585).
