To the Ashe Family: Dear Friends- I was so sorry to read in today's Chronicle Herald that Danny had passed away. Danny and I grew up in the same neighbourhood and were schoolmates. I lived on the corner of Miller Rd. and Nancy Ave. and Danny lived on the corner of Beverly and Prince Street. The last time I saw Danny was at the Salmon River School reunion and we had a great visit. It was wonderful to see so many of the "neighbourhood gang" at that time. Having lost Janet just last year, this will be doubly hard on you. I have nice memories of growing up with Danny, Dennis and Janet. (Dennis & I were the same age and in the same class) Thinking of you with loving thoughts and deepest sympathy. Karen (Gunn) Rowlands

Like everyone, we were shocked at the news of Dan's passing. He appeared so full of life and vitality at the Couples Golf. At least we got to share some of his final days with the two of you - doing one of his favourite activities. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Good afternoon Catherine and family; Dan befriended me at an early age as I was starting out in the working world. We are a subcontractor for field services and Zalev Brothers were a long-standing account. I think he empathized with me coming from a family business and trying to make a business relationship continue. We both wore hard hats and work boots and the dust and smell of the yard is what made each of us tick! Dan left a mark that has guided me for close to forty years. We"re put on this earth to bring out the best in people rather than the worst, not always a top priority in the "recycling", or most "modern" businesses for that matter. Sure has worked in mine! Gone and never forgotten. My friend, Captain Dan. Randy Cyr

Jennifer and Monica. We are truly saddened to learn of your Dad's death. I have been thinking of himand our shared history. The latter began when he lived with the Levis family at 220 Roslin. John acted like the big brother we didn't have and squired us to special occasions if we didn't have a date. He was such a good dancer. In time our contacts became fewer but we always remembered birthdays and Christmas and he always maintained the same ascerbic wit. I send you and the family sincere condolences. I hope John was not ill or suffering for long --he was a good soul and I miss knowing he is with us. with sympathy, Pat
