Obituary of Ronald Kennedy Watt
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Ronald Kennedy Watt on May 18, 2023, at the age of 84. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Eileen, and his daughter Janice (Les) and son John. Ron was born in Calgary Oct. 21, 1938, the third son of Jean Simpson and Charlie (Charles) Watt. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers George (Grace) and Arthur (Betty). Ron started work as a Customs & Excise officer in Calgary Oct. 5, 1959. In 1964 he married Eileen and had a daughter, Janice. With a promotion in 1967 the family moved to Vancouver for a short time. They continued their travels across Canada to Halifax, N.S. for another promotion. His son John was born there in 1970. Another promotion moved Ron to a position in Niagara Falls. After Niagara Falls, Ron spent the next three years working in Hamilton and after French training the family moved to Ottawa for six years, then to Toronto for two years. Ron achieved his goal of becoming a Collector of Custom & Excise. From 1986 until his retirement in 1994, he was the Collector of Custom & Excise for the S. W. Ontario Region, based in Windsor, Ontario. Ron loved his family and he enjoyed his work. They lived in Kingsville, and he was on the board of the Kingsville Military Museum for many years. He enjoyed having garage sales and meeting new friends and neighbours. The family would like to thank the many people from coast to coast who became Ron’s friends over the years. As Ron wanted, instead of a funeral, he has been cremated and his ashes will be scattered at a later time. In lieu of flowers his family would appreciate a donation to the Arthritis Society or the Windsor-Essex Hospice, Erie Shores Campus or the charity of your choice.
