Obituary of Guy Roland Joseph Jolin

JOLIN, Guy Roland 'Geebo' died at The Windsor-Essex Hospice, Inc., Unit 100, Room 10, on March 16, 2023 at 12:40 p.m. in his 77th year. Joannie, Guy's beloved wife, survives him. They were married for more than 47 years. Guy is the youngest son of the late Edmond and Carmen (Lafond) Jolin, brother of Claude (died 2018), Germaine Goudreault, Robert (died 2022), Nicole LeBlanc, Micheline Garneau and Pierrette Jolin. A gaggle of nieces and nephews, their spouses and children including his goddaughter, Dina Garneau Ipperciel and his niece, Nathalie Goudreault, who predeceased him at the age of 24 on December 23, 1999. Exceptional Dad to Lynda Earle (Jeff) and Blake Moorcroft (Debbie). Guy has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Guy was an Industrial Maintenance Electrician at Ford of Canada, Windsor for 25 years, retiring in October, 2006. A devoted Scouter with Scouts Canada for 25 years and with the 107th Scout troop for 22, Guy was Chair of the Apple Day and Scout trees Committees. He was given the Medal of Good Service in 2002 as well as the ERCA Volunteer Award of the Year in 2002, nominated by Bill Roesel, then City of Windsor's Forester. Guy was also given a Certificate and Medal of Fortitude, as well as numerous commendations. He volunteered with The Hospice driving patients to their medical appointments, running a camp for children who had a parent suffering from cancer, and as a Respite volunteer visiting the hospital every Sunday night going from room to room on the 4th floor of Met seeing if anyone needed someone to talk with. He also volunteered with The Canadian Cancer Society driving patients to London for treatment, working the Daffodil campaign each year and distributing pamphlets throughout the city. He also canvassed every year for The United Way while working at Ford. Guy lived his life with enthusiasm and courage. He viewed life as a miracle. He believed in helping others without fanfare or thought of reward. His life was an example to everyone who knew him. He was simply a man full of love. Guy wouldn't have gotten through the last months of his life without the constant care and concern of his dear son, Blake. Blake was always available to do anything which helped Guy whether it was to visit him in the hospital six days out of seven from January 8 to February 17, 2023 and then to come over to our home every day whenever he was needed until March 10, and finally to see him every day while he was at the Hospice. Blake entered Guy's room as he took his last breath. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Guy's life will be held at The Salvation Army South Windsor Citadel, 1201 Grand Marais, West, on April 22, 2023 at 11 a.m. Led by Captain David Bond. Flowers or plants will be received at the church between 10:00am and 10:30am. Charitable donations may also be made in memory of Guy to Windsor Essex Hospice, 6038 Empress St., Windsor, ON N8T 1B5, and Street Help, 964 Wyandotte Street E., Windsor, ON N9A 3J9.
