Obituary of Maureen Papineau

Papineau, Maureen (Foster) May 23, 1948 ~ February 6, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her family on February 6, 2023 at the age of 74 years. Devoted wife to her high school sweetheart Marcel Papineau for over 53 years. Proud mother of Jason (Sandra) Papineau, Derek (Christa Marier) Papineau, and Erin (Matt) Simic. Ever-doting grandmother to Lauren, Markus, Julia, and Danica. Dear daughter to the late Frank and Margaret Foster. Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland of proud Polish and Scottish heritage. Cherished sister to Frank (Johanna) Foster and Glenn (Gisele) Foster. Greatly loved sister-in-law to Roland (Sandra) Papineau, Sue (late Paul) Beneteau, Elaine (Gerry) Ray, Therese (Joe Derikx) Papineau, Jerome Papineau, Bernadette (Paul) Pinsonneault. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family in Scotland and countless friends. Maureen found joy and happiness in every day, and became friends with anyone she met. She loved family gatherings throughout the year, gardening, baking, cooking, knitting, reading, tile rummy and many card games. Her wondrous minivan day trips with Marcel always brought back laughter and thoughtful reminders of family. Maureen always loved her lifelong community of Tecumseh. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and a Eucharistic minister with Ste. Anne’s Parish. A past president of the Tecumseh Ladies Council with the Knights of Columbus, she was a selfless volunteer at their Friday fish fries, fundraisers and social gatherings. Her card clubs were a place of continued fond friendships. A special thank you to the wonderful Critical Care Team at Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus. As per Maureen’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Ste. Anne’s Parish (12233 Tecumseh Rd E) on Saturday February 11, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Memorial Mass from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Private family internment will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Ste. Anne’s Parish Building Fund, and the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
