Obituary of Patrick Joseph Kennedy

KENNEDY, Patrick Joseph October 14, 1927 – February 2, 2023 It is with beautiful memories and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Papa, Patrick Kennedy, on February 2, 2023, at the age of 95. Reunited with his beautiful wife Frannie (2012). Cherished father to Patrick (Sharon), Annemarie (Pete), Maureen, and Francine (Manny). Loving stepfather to Phil and Renee. Beloved Papa of his adoring grandchildren Sarah (Hammond), Jamie (Zach), Jordan (Randy), Jacob, Ashlee (Kevin), Kylie (Dallas), and the late Lindsay (Dan). Loving Great-Papa of Avery, Alex, Will, Saxon, Cash, and Savannah. Honorary Papa to countless others. Predeceased by his five siblings and parents Fred and Annie Kennedy. Much loved Uncle Pat to many nieces and nephews. Pat was an incredible man who lived a very full life. He loved sports and was an exceptional basketball and baseball player growing up. He retired from Chrysler in 1980 after several decades and enjoyed working as a lunch aide at St. Angela Catholic school for many years after that. An avid runner, he ran three marathons, including the Detroit Free Press marathon with his daughter Franni. Pat brought people together and made friends everywhere he went. He was a social person who could always be found at Tim Horton’s or Kiwanis Park with his “crew”, chatting about politics and sports, and telling “Papa jokes”. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Steelers. An extra special thank you to his stepson Phil for his loving attention, friendship, and exceptional care of Papa, and for helping him maintain his independence. As per Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Wyandotte), 519-254-2585.
