Obituary of Richard Taylor

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Richard Edward Taylor on January 5, 2023. Richard was the loving and devoted husband to Roberta (Robin) Hughes, and extremely proud Daddy to Brooke. Richard will be leaving behind three Grandchildren that he cherished and enjoyed making memories with. Richard was the proud Fafa (papa) to Mickayla, and proud Papa to Andie and Markus Solet. Richard will also be leaving behind many memories made and witty banter that was exchanged between himself and Brooke’s fiancé Andrew Solet. Richard was the loving brother of Allan Taylor (Maureen), Lori Vrabel (Jim). Loving brother-in-law to Carol Vlassic, Sonny Hughes (Carolyn), Donna Rivait (Greg), Darla Gelinas (Tim), and Terry Best. Richard is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and God Father to Shawn Taylor. Rick was also best friends to Steve and Laura Ash and their kids called him Papa Rick. Richard was a retired Chrysler worker and spent his last sixteen years on earth doing what he loved. Rick loved genealogy, geocaching, puzzles, crosswords and, sudoku. Rick was also a member of the Riverside Sportsman Club and devoted time to community events such as We Care for Kids. If Rick was not found working on the many bicycles that he owned, you could find him fixing bikes for the neighbour kids and his Grandchildren. Rick was extremely intelligent and could honestly tell you a little bit about everything. Rick also enjoyed watching many educational documentaries and he could be found during the winter months at his bar that he hand-crafted on Saturday night’s watching the Spitfire’s and Toronto Maple Leaf games. In the summer he could be found outside listening to the Detroit Tiger’s on his little blue radio. There will never be enough words to describe the amazing man that Rick was. If you ever had the pleasure to meet him you would know just how unique he was and the patience he had for others, his passion when it came to his hobbies, and his sarcasm that was happily passed onto his Daughter. Let’s hope heaven has the best riding trails. You will live on through all of the memories shared by so many that had the pleasure to know you and love you. In lieu of a funeral, a public gathering will be held at 3:00pm on January 16th at Greenlawn Memorial for Richard’s internment for anyone who would like to gather and send well wishes to Richard and his family. In Richard’s honour, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Windsor and Essex County. Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation (Dougall) 519-254-2585. On Line condolences may be shared at www.simplechoicecremation.ca
