Deepest sympathies to Jim, Natalie and Nadine.
Natalie, I just learned of your mom's passing.
I have such warm memories of hanging out on Cedar Island with you and your family "eons" ago. Your mom was always friendly and kind to me. May she live on in your hearts forever.

Jim, Natalie and Nadine;
As I mentioned to Jim, when I think of what a good neighbour is, Liz and Jim immediately come to mind. On behalf of my mother, another long-time Cedar Island resident, and all of us in my family, our sincerest condolences on your loss. Our thoughts are with you in this difficult time. Liz will be missed and may she rest in peace.

Jim, Natalie, Nadine - and all the family,
Tom and I want to express our most sincere sympathies to you - we know with the passing of Liz, there will be a huge hole in your family. May all the amazing memories you have help a little, as well as the love of all your friends.
Our memories of Liv stem from when we first acquired the cottage on 2nd Blvd. Liz was the foundation of the Blvd - and extended every bit of her personality to help us newbies feel a part of Cedar Island. She was always there for a chat, a wee sit on the beach, a walk around the island - or a drink. Even though the last several years have messed up our times on CI, it will be a long time before we stop looking for her when we pull up. God bless you all; May she rest in Peace.

To the most amazing Godparents a girl could ask for - I have such fond memories of Liz spending Wednesday mornings with me and walking me to the school bus in kindergarten, of Christmas Eves at your house chatting and exchanging gifts, and of Jim pulling out the train of my gown so Liz could take a picture on my wedding day.
My thoughts are surely with you Jim, Nadine, Natalie and families at this difficult time. Please know that Liz is being so fondly remembered with smiles and stories here at our house.

We met Jim and Liz when the guys started work at Allied Chemical, over 50 years ago. Throughout the years many memories have been made. One in particular was Jim's first sail boat that flipped over in the lake with Bill in it, who to this day still can't swim.
Till we meet again Liz,
Rest in Peace

Liz was the first friend l met upon arrival on Cedar Island.
She simply lifted the pall of uncertainty and loneliness as winter set in, by popping in for a visit and a smoke. I wasn’t supposed to be smoking , but l loved it….. and well she was very generous in sharing hers with me away from prying eyes. It was our little secret. I eventually had to buy a whole pack just to pay her back !
She probably never knew how she saved me from a very worrisome, uncertain time in my life. Her smile was infectious, and her wit never quit.
I think that, that is why 30 years later l returned to this peaceful place and bought a house, more confident and settled.
Her husband Jim was the first person to knock on our snow caked door after a three day snow storm that pinned us all down. He and others finally tunnelled out put on skis and travelled around to all the cottages to see if we were ok and if we needed anything….. what a JOY!
Of course l hollered out “ yes….. CIGARETTES….and milk for coffee and cereal!!”
Sure enough, not long after, the needed supplies arrived , whether we had cash to pay or not, at the time. Not sure if we had debit in 1977…..had to have cash.
So People like Liz and Jim Norris and all of you others created a lovely place for me to land ‘ twice’ 1977 and 2010 beside our lake and Nature which is so healing to our Spirit.
Thank you Liz, for being there, and Jim as well, you are both “ your brother’s keeper” in ways both known and unknown. Bless you Both
Sincerely,
Gloria Burford

Gloria here, again: l forgot to mention another wonderful role that Liz played in my life. When that dreary unhappy winter finally passed, Liz invited me to be a “ crew member” in her “ all female crew as she learned to raise the level of her own expertise and race on her own. Jim was her teacher of course, but she made the decisions, and l was SO HAPPY to be out on that water, with other island women such as Judy Lacey and more. It was in sync with the burgeoning feminist movement, and l was so ready for that after a difficult relationship which l later let go of.
So Liz was once again my liberator, as she introduced me to mute women on the island, and taught me new invigorating skills on the water.
Thanx Liz, you are not likely to ever be forgotten on our fair isle!
