Obituary of Gabriel Gaetan Joseph Dubois

Raised in Hanmer, ON, Gabe was the third youngest of eleven children and always full of mischief. That never changed. Always the jokester, he had a hearty laugh that couldn’t help but make you smile. He loved to play cribbage or watch a ball game with a nice, cold beer or a rum and coke, sitting in his chair with his toofies on keeping his feet warm. Of course, he never missed a hockey game played by his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a wonderful storyteller, and no one could ever beat him in an arm wrestle. For many years he was a horseman, training Standardbred racehorses, and he was always an animal lover. He spent hours in his garden, tending his tomatoes, flowers, and vegetables, enjoying all the creatures that visited his yard. He loved to sing and although he was the worst singer, he sang with all his heart. The same way he lived his life - with all his heart. Gabe was the beloved husband of Nancy Dubois (née Harbour) of Windsor, ON. Cherished father of Darren (Carla), Geneviève (Dwayne), Erin (Brad), Amanda (Justin), and Bryan (Jenny). Super proud Poppa of Ashtyn, Rowan, Kirsten, Xander (predeceased), Isabella, Isabelle, Tess, Cody, and Raquel. Son of Hector Dubois of Hanmer, ON (predeceased) and Cécile Dubois (nee Lécuyer) (predeceased). Brother of Pauline (predeceased), Jeanne d’Arc (predeceased), Lucille (predeceased), Georgette, Maurice, Simon, Louise (predeceased), Marcel, Suzanne (predeceased), and Laurent. Mon Oncle Moose to many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the fifth-floor staff of Windsor Memorial Hospital Metropolitan Campus for the exceptional care of Gabe and compassionate support of his family. Maybe now, with Gabe watching over them, the Leafs will finally bring home another Stanley Cup!
