Obituary of Richard Joseph Vezina

VEZINA, Richard Joseph December 23, 1943 - August 27, 2022 With sadness and heavy hearts the family of one of the world's greatest Husband, Dad, Father-in-law, Pip, Friend, Fisherman, and Hunter announce his passing at the age of 78. Predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years and #1 fishing partner Dianne (Smith) who he loved and missed so much. Mom greeted Dad with open arms and a fishing rod in hand to fish the greatest fishing hole of all, "Heaven's Fishing Hole in the Sky" where there is definitely no limits! Survived by me, Richard Jr., his only child, best friend, and hunting partner and my loving wife Judy who has been my rock, and little "Gyps." I have so many memories of the greatest Dad one could ever have. From growing up on the lake fishing to hunting moose and deer. We had a lot of fun, excitement, longjohn parties, and lots of card playing. My heart hurts. Dad's heartbroken, loving grandchildren Rachel & Jason Reinkober, Ricky Vezina & fiancee Emily Morujo, and precious, beautiful great-grandchildren Kailey and Jacob Reinkober filled their "Pips" big heart with love, laughter, and joy. Their Pip loved them and was so proud of them. We all have so many happy memories that will forever be cherished in our hearts. We miss Dad with grieving hearts but know he is now free from pain and suffering and is with Mom (Mim). The reunion at Heaven's gates with Mom and all their family, friends, fishing, and hunting buddies that predeceased them was no doubt the greatest reunion of all time. Oh, the stories, beer toasts, and laughs they must be having. We can only imagine. Dad missed them all so much. Dad is survived by his only sibling Vivianne (Gary) and family, sister-in-laws Carol & Jim Lucier, Debbie & Mike O'Connor, and Irene & Murray Valley, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and families as well. Dad became a man at a very young age when his father Lucien Vezina passed away in 1960. His dear, beautiful mother passing in 1984. Dad loved them "dearly" as he would say and missed them so much. Missing and thinking of his dear father in his final days. Dad is survived by countless lifelong, honest, loyal, and trustworthy friends and fishing & hunting buddies who were always there for him until the end. Our heartfelt condolences go out to you all for your loss of your great friend. We feel your pain. If Dad took you under his wing, you were trusted by him and you became the greatest of friends. Dad was definitely a book of knowledge, jack of all trades, and a great story teller. We will all miss his love and guidance. Dad was happily retired from Chrysler Local 444. He wore many great hats including being a Queensman Motorcycle Club Road Captain, farmer, lumberjack, mechanic, butcher, fishing charter captain, Barrie Island Hunt Club Member, loving husband, loving father-in-law, best Pip, but the greatest hat of all that he wore was being my "DAD." This is not goodbye but 'bye for now' or 'cut you loose.' Our family & friends chain will link again in "Heaven's Greatest Fishing Hole in the SKY!" "LOVE YOU MORE" "LOVE YOU PIP" Our heartfelt thanks go out to Franklin Gardens Long Term Care Staff for the compassionate care Dad received. We have comfort knowing Dad was not alone. And to all the home care he received while at home, we cannot thank you enough. As Dad wanted cremation and a private family gathering has taken place. Thank you to Gabrielle and team at Simple Choice Cremation for all your support, help, and beautiful tribute.
