I was sorry to hear of Allan's passing, and especially the circumstances. I went to high school with Allan, and Allan was a card that stood out from the deck even then, but in an interesting way. Never a boring person to talk to, he was intelligent and blessed with a quirky sense of humour. I hadn't any contact with Allan in forty years, but was saddened to learn of his struggles with mental illness and substance abuse, too often two sides of the same coin, which apparently contributed to his death. My condolences to Allan's extended family.
