Obituary of Derek Alexander

Derek Alexander November 12, 1952 – August 6, 2022 The journey has come to an end. What a journey it has been. Born in Scotland on November 12th, 1952. The same day as his future bride, Margie. Oh the adventures they have had! Derek leaves behind the love of his life and best friend Margie. His brother Ewan and sister-in-law Anita. He was the amazing Uncle Derek to Kelly (Darryl), Neil (Vanessa), Katie (BJ), and Colin (Abi). The greatest great Uncle to Meara, Elgin and Kellan. Derek’s extended family of cousins, uncles, and aunts in Canada and the UK, enjoyed being with Derek, he was the best at staying in touch. They will miss the good times that they had together. Derek will meet his mother Elma, father Bill, mother and father in-law Ruth and Virgil, grandparents Annie/John Smith from Lossiemouth Scotland, and Nana/Alexander Alexander from Dundee, in heaven. Derek was in the business of selling cars for more than 40 years. Thousands of people will not know how to buy cars without his help. He always put the customer first. His work was one of his passions; he loves solving problems for people and getting them great deals. Most importantly, it showed in the great business relationships that became strong friendships built over these decades. Thank you to all of Derek and Margie’s friends, family, and neighbours who have helped us through this difficult process. Derek died in his bed, in his own house, in the place he loved. We appreciate it. A special thank you to Karen Gibson, his cousin, Ewan and Margie who were there for Derek to provide care in his final hours. The funeral will be a very small immediate family gathering as Derek celebrated his life with his friends at he and Margies 45th Wedding Anniversary, and did so in a way that only he and Margie know how. He was clear that he wanted to celebrate his life with his friends and family before he passed, and felt lucky to be able to do so. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Dereks name to the Cancer Program at Windsor Regional Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Leamington), 519-254-2585. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.simplechoicecremation.ca.
