I remember a woman who fiercely loved her family, who had a smile and laughter that warmed your heart. We haven’t seen Sandy in a very long time but warm fuzzy memories return to many years ago when we were baseball moms and our sons played on the same team, our husbands coached and we spent many post game evenings around someone’s kitchen table discussing and strategizing, sharing jokes and just enjoying life. Sandy was a kind and friendly person, a valued friend. Our deepest sympathy to Jerry, Tonya, David, Tim, and Beth. We are so sorry for your loss. Love Peter and Linda Wirag.

My deepest condolences to the family. Sandra was a very humble woman whom I adored. I would go in her room at Huron Lodge and hang out out when I was done doing care for her. She would say “take a load off and watch some tv with me”. We would talk about her family and things she’s done in her life. She will be be greatly missed. Despite not knowing her for years, it felt like I knew her for a very long time She held a special spot in my heart ❤️

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away". That song will forever be associated with a woman who showed me love, warmth, and kindness, my wonderful grandmother, Sandy. She was everything that I could have asked for in a grandma; she wrote “From Santa” on my Christmas presents until I was in my twenties, she made me dippy eggs and toast every single time that we had sleepovers, and she had the world’s softest hugs that made you feel like you were safe and loved. She did have her funny moments as well as the heartfelt ones. On our cross-country trip to Nevada, we were pulled over by State Troopers and she had the best tactic for avoiding a ticket. She pulled out her wallet that had a million pictures of her family and grandkids and said “Oh sorry, I’ll find my license in here, but look at these pictures of all of my grandchildren.” It’s safe to say, we did not get a ticket. The photo that I share here is of that trip to Nevada. On that same trip, we went to an Elvis show in Las Vegas, where I remember Elvis serenading both of us with his dazzling costumes and feather boas. I remember us laughing so hard that our stomachs hurt. That is the picture I will always have in my head, my rosy-cheeked grandma with her beaming smile and not a care in the world.
