Obituary of Mary Margaret Hartos (nee Newham)

HARTOS, Mary Margaret (nee Newham) April 13, 1924 - June 13, 2022 It is with heavy hearts the family of Mary Margaret Hartos announces her passing at the age of 98, while surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife to the late George Hartos, and the late Charles Dowie. Cherished mother to John Hartos and predeceased by her children James Dowie and Tamara Adams. Loving mother-in-law to Mary Jo Dowie, Christine Hartos, and the late Rob Adams. Proud Grandma to James Dowie(Sarah), Andrew Dowie(Mary), Brett Hartos(Haley), Spencer Hartos(Danielle), Madison Hartos, Tara Faulkner(Richard), and Dana Brown(Mike). Great Gigi to Marshall Dowie, Bryce Dowie, Paige Faulkner, Alexis Faulkner, Ava Brown, Max Brown, and Riley Hartos. Mary Margaret is survived by her brother Max Newham, and predeceased by her sister Bette Cope, and her parents Hazel and James Newham. She will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. From a very young age, Mary Margaret worked hard until she retired at the age of 70. She was employed by Canada Post, and eventually ran her own business, Marg's Driving School. She taught driver’s education to many students over the years while working for CAA. Mary Margaret was also a proud Air Force Veteran, and volunteered at the Windsor-Essex Hospice. She loved golf and WWE. Mary Margaret loved celebrating anything and everything with her amazing Merlin family and many friends. Mary Margaret was a beautiful woman with a ready smile. Her outer beauty, however, was no match for the kind, spunky, and beautiful soul she carried with her everywhere she went. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Sunrise Senior Living for their incredible care for Mary Margaret over the past three years. A special thank you to all of the wonderful staff members, residents and to Tracy, Somela, Carly, Maria, Susie, Lora, Renee and Treasa, with whom she shared special relationships.
