Obituary of Giulio Rossi

ROSSI, Giulio June 29, 1923 - June 8, 2022 On June 8, 2022 there was a long anticipated celebration in heaven as Giulio Rossi was finally reunited with the love of his life Bruna (nee Bernacchi) who has been waiting for him since her passing in November 2016. He was predeceased by his sisters Mariuccia (1988) and Teresina (2020) in Italy. Born on June 29, 1923 in Fagnano Olona (Varese) Italy to parents Giovanni and Maria, Giulio and Bruna emigrated to Canada in 1950 and took up residence in Windsor initially in a home on Windsor Avenue and shortly thereafter at 558 Erie Street E. In 1966 Giulio built his family home in Fountainbleu, East Windsor, where he and Bruna enjoyed close friendships with the Drekic, Brieda and Slater families. Giulio and Bruna had one child, John Louis, born in October 1951. Giulio was a tool and dye machinist employed by Nickleson Tool & Dye from 1950 to 1960 when he, Bruna and John returned to Fagnano where he worked for his dear friend Giovanni Lago owner of a foundry, until 1963 when the family returned to Windsor and he resumed his employment at Nickleson where he remained until his retirement in 1988. Thereafter, yearly spring to autumn vacations with Bruna in Italy and other European cities became the norm, until 2002 when the onset of Bruna’s Alzheimer’s disease ended the annual trips. From that time Giulio was an exceptional and loving caretaker for her, initially in their home and then at Banwell Gardens Nursing home where his daily excursions there from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm would become the norm for the years to come until her death. In 2016, Giulio joined John and family in their home where he resided until his death. Giulio leaves his only child John, wife Dr. Patti Weir, grandchildren Christine (Peter), Stefanie (Mickey), Erica and Julia and 4 year-old great grandson Remington to cherish his memory. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Windsor Essex, or Transition to Betterness would be gratefully appreciated by the family
