Obituary of Richard Alan Vargyas

VARGYAS, Richard "Ricky" Alan July 23, 1945 - April 28, 2022 It's with broken hearts that the family of Richard Vargyas announces his passing at the age of 76. Richard passed away peacefully on April 28, 2022. Born in Windsor, Ricky was the son of the late Charles and Germaine Vargyas. Beloved husband to Larry Patterson. Forever remembered, loved, and incredibly cherished by his beloved sisters Patti Cornelius (Rob) and Carla Schmidt. Ricky is predeceased by his son John and his brother Carl. He is survived by his children Jamie and Janis. Lifelong friend and confidant to Peter Bois. Ricky is survived by his precious fur-babies Jazz and Chloe. Sincere thank you to neighbors Mary Quenville and Jay Few for their kindness and compassion. Ricky will also be dearly missed by his extended family and many good friends. Ricky was a pioneer of same sex rights in Canada. In 1997, he appeared before the House of Commons advocating for equality in same-sex pension rights. He was a talented cook, some may even say chef, preparing countless gourmet Hungarian dishes and tortes. Ricky often walked a very thin line with his devious sense of humor, but ultimately he had unconditional love for all. Above all, Ricky will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit. Donations made in memory of Ricky to the Windsor-Essex Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. As per Ricky's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will take place at a later date.
