Obituary of Kerry William Martin
MARTIN, Kerry August 5 1955 to January 19 2022 It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to the love of my life, my life partner, husband, and best friend of 36 years, Kerry Martin. Kerry only lived 66 years, but he lived his life to the fullest. I found in him, the perfect partner for travel, good times, culinary and wine delights, and the craziest trivia he loved to share. I learned so much more than I really needed to know, when I actually listened. Not the best of planners, he allowed me to coordinate many adventures without any flack. Always willing to do the craziest things I asked for, taking pictures, and even climbing high mountains despite his incredible fear of heights. We truly traveled the world and lived every day like we didn’t have a tomorrow. His love of music was legendary and when we stretched out our combined LPs, cassettes and CDs, they could stretch around the block. Over the years you could find us at any number of concerts enjoying hard rock, soft rock, blues, you name it . Shy for many years for playing his guitars in front of anyone, he finally gave in and played unabashed in front of others. Kerry was my personal chef. He took courses at a culinary school at 52 when he retired and always loved an amazing presentation of his creations. He’s had his photo taken with many famous chefs, which you can still find on his Facebook page. Kerry loved his fancy clothes, and if it had a designer label, all the better. Even the shoes were fancy and with a size 13 foot, that was a challenge. At 6’7”, he was used to having haircuts from many ceiling fans and traveling through Europe proved to be a challenge, as he smacked his forehead on many door entries over the years. I could lose myself in his blue eyes. Kerry loved reality TV, watching every stupid “housewives” show and many others that I actually enjoyed too. Lucky for me, he loved the Hallmark romantic comedies and dramas, and actually applauded when they kissed during the last two minutes of the movie. Hopeless romantic? Maybe! People accused us of being joined by the hips, yet, only mine suffer from arthritis. Kerry loved my family as well as his own, but I’m pretty sure he had a secret crush on one of my sisters. He was my puppy, and will always remain in my heart. Kerry leaves behind his amazing mom Jean Claxton, his brother Brent (Wendy) Martin and me Lucie Martin. Also missing him are his sisters and brothers-in-law Karen (Mike) Lafleur, Marian (Gary) Drouillard, Linda (Gary) Mondoux and Gilles (Jane) Mondoux. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. He is also leaving behind beautiful guitars, more suits and tuxes than anyone needs, his beloved 1978 Rolex that he purchased during his first year of employment at EB Eddy, and our stuffed animals who all had a personality of their own. Kerry has so many friends and colleagues who will miss him, too numerous to mention and all who are equally sad to see him go. He will be missed, but nobody will miss him more than me. Nobody! I love you Kerry, Love Lucie I wish to thank the amazing team in ICU at the Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus. They were so professional, caring, and hard working. A per Kerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring in Ottawa, where he worked in his adult life and made many friends. Kerry’s ashes will be spread into Lake Ontario at a later date; this is what Kerry often spoke of and wanted. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Dougall) 519-254-2585. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with Lucie, and Kerry's family at www.simplechoicecremation.ca
