Obituary of June Shirley Renaud

RENAUD, June Shirley June 1, 1926 - January 15, 2022 Our mother was small, mighty, spunky and fun loving. She has gone quietly into the night wrapped in the arms of all who loved her. Our mother was a very intelligent, hardworking multitasker who kept our family together, at times working two jobs. Friends were always welcomed in our home. Sunday dinners were at times chaotic with “drop ins” however, to our Mom, the more the merrier. Our Riverside High School friends crowded around our kitchen table five days a week for lunch, since we lived steps away from the school. Mom was one of thirteen children living in a small three-bedroom home on Randolph Street. Every morning my grandmother would line up all thirteen and coax a teaspoon of cod liver oil down their little throats. Mom lived to be ninety-five and so, there might be something to be said for cod liver oil! When Mom was sixteen, she was hired to decorate cakes at Lyttles Bakery on Ouellette Avenue downtown Windsor. She became a master decorator. She then went on to Blue Cross in Michigan as a supervisor where she cared for and became a mentor for her staff. AND……… then to Henry Ford Hospital as a team member of administration. Oh, and by the way, she also helped to dry wall, paint and put roofing tiles on her home in Russell Woods. My family so very sincerely thanks all who cared for our Mom at the St. Clair Villages. They were an amazingly professional, hardworking and caring group of gems who nick named her JUNE BUG! There has been a very quiet family graveside burial service with a very loud and musical celebration to follow at a later date. Thanks to all who knew and loved our mother. She will be missed by Carol Thomson (Sandy), Sandra Zakosky (Alex), Kim Rupert (Brian) Chad. She is also survived by a sister, a brother, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Dougall) 519-254-2585.
