VELUZ, Zenaida Flores April 12, 1945 - January 3, 2022 It is with great sadness that the family of Zenaida "Aida/Zeny" announce her passing in her 76th year. Zenaida passed away peacefully and left this world for a better place on January 3, 2022. She will be dearly missed. Zenaida is survived by: Her daughters: Zendy (Percy), Edizen (Alex), Eden (Frank), and Geraldine (Rob), as well as her grandchildren Kayla, Ethan, Aidan, Gabby, Sebastian, and siblings Beinvenido Mesina, Crisanta Mesina, and Jaime Mesina. As well, the father of her four daughters, Edilberto Veluz, and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving parents Mauricio Mesina Sr. and Valentina Mesina, as well as her siblings Mauricio Mesina Jr, Fidel Mesina, Mauro Mesina, and Mauricio Mesina Jr. Zenaida was many things, including a teacher in the Philippines, a restaurant/catering business owner, and a gourmet sous chef that once cooked for Queen Elizabeth. Her family loved her palabok, adobo, kare kare, and banana bread. She was a caregiver and lifelong companion to her older sister Crisanta. She was a world traveler with her best friend and niece Lucy Gorski, and also played the confidante to her nephew Peter Hansel Mesina. Above all else, Zenaida was a devoted sister, mother and Lola (grandmother). She was funny, strong, and giving. She loved playing the slots at the casino and buying lottery tickets with the hopes of winning big and sharing it with her loved ones. Zenaida enjoyed singing, reading and listening to music. She enjoyed playing card games and sungka with her granddaughters, where Zenaida would “cheat” and laugh when caught. She was a passionate gardener, and leaves behind her prized lemon tree. She also helped raise her grandchildren and will continue to watch them grow. Zenaida was a true matriarch and the glue of her family. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care provided by the staff at Windsor Regional Hospital. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place with a blessing beforehand. A memorial will be held for her at a later time to be determined by her children. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Dougall) 519-254-2585.
