Our deepest and sincere condolences to Penny and Doug’s family and friends. We have many great memories of Doug going back to high school and Doug being the drummer in his band he shared with his buddies. Many years after, the good times continued. Doug was always a sweet guy and he will be missed. I hope all the good memories will be of comfort at this sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Steve and Stephanie McGinty

What a shock to hear about Doug’s recent passing. We have very fond memories of Doug as a dear friend and kindred spirit. His lively participation at the CUTA conference companion programs will always be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. If Penny is the CUTA Queen, Doug was the CUTA Prince! Doug’s absence will leave a vacuum for sure, and our thoughts and prayers are with Penny in coping with the loss.

I will always remember Doug and Penny convincing me to play hooky and take the afternoon off from a conference in St. John's Newfoundland, to hike around Signal Hill. The weather, scenery and company were absolutely fabulous...definitely the right decision! Many other fond memories, a few involving alcohol....deepest condolences again to Penny, family and Doug's many friends... Brian and Dianne Leck

Penny, I was sad to hear of Doug’s passing. He was such a nice man and you were such a wonderful couple. I loved Doug’s positive outlook and his great sense of humour and smile. I always looked forward to meeting Doug at CUTA conferences. You and Doug were the ultimate CUTA power couple. The two of you were such a big part of making CUTA conferences ‘personal’ and not just a gathering of transit people. You put ‘family’ in the transit family. Jean’s and my thoughts are with you. Penny and family, so sad for your loss and so sad to lose Doug but he will be forever in your hearts and everyone's. He was always a positive, happy guy with a great laugh! Many happy memories from CUTA but also visits to Windsor and Florida. Always appreciated a good joke and was a great friend to all. He is in a better place and not in pain. God's speed. May he rest in peace and rise in glory! Chris Prentice
