My sincerest condolences to the Pells family. Mr.Pells was an intergenerational behemoth of reputation at K.C.I. "Tough love" may have been an understatement for his methods, but nonetheless were always sincere and forward-looking. As one of his business students and an athlete (primarily badminton), his advice had resonated through my high school years and beyond.

To the Pells family my sincere condolences. I've seen some posts on Facebook about Mr. Pells and it's a trip down memory lane even after nearly 25 years. My daughter is a competitive swimmer and I would tell her about him some times when we'd be in the WFCU and see his picture in the Windsor Essex Hall of Fame. He has truly left his mark in the hearts of his students and co-workers. One of the best Mr. Pells you will be missed.

I am so sad to hear about Mr. Pells passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I also want to thank his family for the huge sacrifices they must have made while he was coaching. It is only in hindsight that I understand what he gave to his swimmers. Mr. Pells was a huge influence in my life. I swam with him for 5 years at Kennedy. He taught me to work hard, to win, to be a leader, to work within a team and most importantly confidence. We didn't always see eye to eye on things, but he never gave up on me. Even when he probably should have. I think of him often in my life and remember nothing but 5 amazing years with him and my team mates. He truly was a great man that changed my life. He will be missed. Joy Paterson

Sending my sincerest condolences to the Pells family. I was on the KCI swim team during the infamous winning streak years. Mr.Pells encouraged us to work harder, to never give up, and to accept victory with grace. I am who I am today because of his investment in my life and I am forever grateful.

I was lucky to have joined KCI Swimming just before the retirement of Mr Pells, and will never forget Mr. Pells and the impact he had on so many students including myself. He inspired me to achieve great things in life and instilled a sense of accountability and work ethic that I continue to use to this day. He was a true leader in our community and I am so thankful to have crossed paths with him. My last encounter with Mr. Pells was running into him at my part-time job in University several years ago, he came into my store with a bright smile, shook my hand and said "great to see you David" and carried on with his shopping; what a great memory to have of him!

Mrs.Pells, Jennifer, Adam and family, I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of your dear husband and father. Since hearing of Mr.Pells passing, I have spent some time reminiscing on the 4 years I spent swimming for him. There is no question that such a huge part of who I am, is because of him. I hope you find peace during this time in knowing what a legacy he left behind in both his family and in his swimmers too. Thinking of you all during this time.

Dear Marg and Family, I was very saddened to read of Dave's passing this morning. I got to know Dave when I started coaching a rival swim team and always appreciated the time he took to explain new things and answer any questions I may have had.He was always Mr. Pells despite being told to call him Dave . Marg: I am glad that I got to know you through Maureen and that I got to know a little about Dave away from the pool. Wishing you all peace and the comfort of good memories during this difficult time. Christena Slivocka
