Obituary of Brian Buttery

BUTTERY, Brian January 10, 1931 - September 27, 2021 Dr. Brian Richard Buttery, beloved and loving husband of Jane (nee Davies) died peacefully on Monday, September 27th 2021 at Erie Shores Healthcare, Leamington . He was the kindest, generous father of Sarah Ann Wink (the late Jim) and Susan Jane Tohyama (Tsutomu) and special father-figure to his two grandsons, Richard Brian and Matthew Stephen Buttery as well as great-grandfather to Mayia Grace Talbot (Richard’s daughter). Brian was born in Wimbledon, and obtained a B. Sc. at Imperial College, London and later a Ph.D in Botany in 1959. After marriage to Jane, the couple went to Malaysia where Brian he was offered a research post at the Rubber Research Institute. By 1965, he came to work in Ontario as a plant physiologist at Agriculture Canada Research Station in Harrow. Brian enjoyed running regularly and playing tennis with good friends at his work. In his seventies, he walked the Carmino in Spain. He was an avid reader of all genres and a lover of classical music along with Jane, so they attended Windsor Symphony Concerts together for 55 years. Both his quiet wisdom and humour will be missed by his family and friends. If you wish, donations to Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington would help our whole community.
