Obituary of Josef Buchner
BUCHNER, Josef January 2, 1939 - September 29, 2021 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Josef Buchner announces his passing on September 29, 2021 at the age of 82. Born in Möning, Germany, Josef was the son of the late Georg and the late Margareta (nee Teppner) Buchner. Josef will be missed by his beloved wife and best friend of 57 beautiful years, Ingrid Buchner (nee Rueverkamp). Cherished father to Richard Buchner & his wife Toni, and Heidi Lunelli & her husband Nick. Proud Opa to his beautiful grandchildren Kayla & Andrew Buchner, and Olivia Lunelli. Josef is survived by his brother Richard Buchner in Germany, and welcomed to God’s kingdom by his predeceased sister and five brothers. He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, extended family, and friends. He will also be fondly remembered by his longtime friends Rose & Don Nesbitt and boating buddies Peter & Natalie Goldman. An immigrant from South Africa, Josef moved his family to Canada in 1978 in search of a better life for his family. He settled in Belle River where he raised his loving family. Josef had a fondness for the water and bought a house along the Belle River, then later on the Detroit River in Windsor. Josef will be remembered as a grateful, humble, loving man with a generous heart. For 28 years Josef worked as a skilled machine builder and group leader for Tri-Way Tool & Die. He then enjoyed his retirement by boating on the beautiful Ontario waters, and finishing the week at the marina bonfires. He will be forever loved and will be greatly missed by all. Dad we love you so much, you were a fantastic father, who was always there to lend a helping hand and share your knowledge. You weren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things accomplished. You raised us to be hard workers, loyal, and to value what we had. Most importantly, you taught us the value of family. You will always be remembered in our hearts. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Misty, and the fourth floor nurses at Met Hospital, and the kind and compassionate palliative care staff at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital. As per Joe’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held, with cremation to follow. For those who wish, donations can be made to The Cancer Society or Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Wyandotte), 519-254-2585.
