My very deepest condolences to you and your family, Claire. I was shocked to come upon this obituary and love the warmth, sense of humour...and loving care...which it imparts. Jim was very impactful to me as a young FSS teacher, way back when, and I remember wearing the "boycott grapes" buttons and being environmentally educated by him. You have many things to celebrate about this fine man, and this summer our community of FSS teachers has seen such loss: Jim, Bob Turner, and my husband, David. With sympathy, Donna Wishart

My sympathies to Claire and family on the passing of Jim. I met Jim at Amnesty International some years ago, and he was kind, friendly and full of stories. We both were teachers who had a lot of love for Forster Secondary School and our students. Over the years, my husband Peter and I have run into Jim and Claire regularly at WIFF and at other events around town. He always had a smile on his face and always had time for a chat. Claire and family, I wish you peace and strength now and in the future. Sincerely, Karen Albu

Dear Claire & Family, So sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I remember Jim from the Field Naturalists. He always seemed so witty. He'd bake these really big cookies for us to sell at our booth on Earth Day. I think he's the only guy who baked for us. We'll miss him. Sincerely. Kathy Lesperance

Dear Sar, Claire, Brian and Dave - I have such lovely memories of Jim, and how welcoming he always was. I remember with lots of fondness how he would treat us kids with kindness and respect, and didn’t seem to mind Sarah’s friends hanging around! I would never have tried squashing grapes with my feet (then later getting a bit drunk on said wine - but of course he wouldn’t have known about that part), or birdwatching at Point-Pelee, had he not been so inclusive. I’m sure he will be fondly remembered by so many extended networks of friends. Thinking of you! Gen
