I was very saddened to hear about Laurence's passing. He was very kind to me when I met him as a teenager back in the 90s.. he taught me how to ride a horse (by yelling at me that I better not fall off or I had to walk back to the barn)... then when I could sit a horse he let me lead the guided trails. I have so many wonderful memories from back in the later days of Clay Creek, Laurence's dry sense of humor, his wonderful dalmatian Jake, and all those horses he let me ride. We lost touch after he left Canada, so I was very happy to run into him last year at the grocery store a few times... we always talked for about a half hour, mostly about horses, but he did tell me last time I saw him, in the winter, that he was quite sick. He gave me his number and invited me to come round the barn and see his current horses. I found that number in the bottom of my purse just last week, and I tucked it back in, thinking I would call later this month.... I am sorry now that I waited. Goodbye, my friend.
