Obituary of Janis Brooke Rankin

On June 25,2021 Janis Rankin peacefully passed at the age of 76. My mother Janis has always been a private person and I have often heard her say “ It’s none of their damn business”. So as I am writing her obituary, I am treading very lightly. Janis was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia which will be her final resting place. She was predeceased by her parents Eric and Winnie Morrow. She was the last surviving sibling to Rick, Glen and Ellen. Also preceded in death was her beloved son Bobby Pattison (1995) Along with her husband Michael Rankin (2016) Janis worked many years for the Canteen of Canada. She was an awesome cook and she loved to bake. Her brother Rick had said to her “ Janis you could make grass taste good “ Mum was diagnosed with COPD and she lived with and battled the disease for many years. The last years of her life she resided at Heron Terrace. I cant say mum was happy with her new place (did I mention she was a great cook) but she eventually settled in. Still everyday that she could she would do her hair and makeup and put on a great outfit (she loved fashion) She wasn’t there long and the staff soon knew how mum liked things (her way). Most everyone there knew Janis. She was beautiful, and even with some profanity was a classy lady. She loved music and was generous to a fault. She always spoke her mind and would be the voice for others. Many thanks and love to the friends at Heron Terrace for all the love and care, and the good times they made for my mom. I loved hearing your stories. She will be missed by many. Janis leaves behind her daughter Beth and son-in-law Ken Savoie. Her grandchildren who she very much loved, Isiah, Adam, Jared and Brooke. Along with nieces, nephew and cousins. She will be greatly missed by her best friend and Aunt, Myrtle (Toots) Pegley. “Till we meet again“ I know your breathing easy Mum I just love you so much
