Obituary of John David Sexsmith

SEXSMITH, John David March 23, 1938 - October 19, 2022 Passed peacefully into eternity on October 19, 2022 at the age of 84. Cherished friend and spouse of Edna for 57 years. John was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 23, 1938. Much-loved father of John Sexsmith Jr. of Lawrence, Kansas and Sean (Kristyn) of Windsor. Loving grandfather of Evan and Erin Sexsmith, Michigan; and Victoria and Neil Sexsmith, Windsor. Remembered fondly by former daughter-in-law, Beth Sexsmith. John is also survived by sister Janet in BC. Predeceased by parents Jack and Helen and brother Paul, all of Winnipeg. John followed a very eclectic career pattern which included working in a stock brokerage firm, stints in radio and television, men's clothing salesman, territory salesman, real estate appraiser, mortgage and loans manager, bus driver, and finally discovered what he really loved - driving his semi from Windsor to South Carolina and back. John was a sports enthusiast and played hockey, football, and baseball into his middle years, and golf his whole life (two holes-in-one). In earlier years, he enjoyed coaching the young hockey players of Windsor, Riverside, and Chatham. He was also most proud to belong to that loose federation of sports nuts in Winnipeg known as the Blossom Boys. Cremation has taken place with a private family Celebration of Life to occur at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation Centre. If desired, donations in remembrance of John to any of the Kidney Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation, and Windsor-Essex County Humane Society would be welcome.
